Alex Chen completed his Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice at Manhattan School of Music in New York City and holds a Master of Music in Voice from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Alex is currently a classical voice instructor at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Junior programme and also pop singing instructor at the Emperor Entertainment Academy for performing Arts.  

Alex has performed with numerous opera companies in Hong Kong and the United States, including Opera Hong Kong, Opera Society of Hong Kong, Musica Viva, SingFest Hong Kong, Ponte Singers and orchestra and New York Lyric Opera. During his studies in New York he also received Pop singing lesson from Voice Academy NYC, which led him to start teaching after he is back to Hong Kong in 2013. 

In his teaching, Alex recognizes human voice as a musical instrument, we have to"build" our instrument by building up muscle memory through practicing vocalise exercises, and to strengthen the sensation of our brain towards the muscles and spaces needed for singing. After the instrument is "built" then we can learn how to control our voice and sing freely.
